Turbo advice

Featured Replies

Just read this on another forum

'its also worth noting that cars with turbos are best left idiling for a few moments after you reach a destination to allow oil to circulate throough the turbo bearings otherwise it can carbonise, which then leads to turbo failure, a bloke at the place i used to work never did this despite comming off the motorway full blast straight into the carpark and engine off. result 3 new turbo’s in 14 months.

Can anyone please confirm/deny?, as I do this each workday at present, and do not wish to damage the turbo if I am told better.?

TIA

Just slow down and drive gently a few minutes from destination, and that will give turbo ample time to cool

Well I generally have to wait a minute or so on the slip road before getting on to the roundabout (Cardiff Gate J30 M4), so will just take my time from there.

Thanks for the reply.

no probs, this subject has come up on here before, and if you have a wee search you will see that, that is the general consensus
