Generic awesome map on larger injectors quiery

Featured Replies

as some know im going down to awesome for a map on monday, its one of theyre home brews but i wanted to check whether the larger injectors would cause any problems?

Thats it really, i cant imagine if its fuelling properly that it would cause an issue but thought id check

oh and its just the 110bhp injectors, in a 90 bhp engine

if you told em what injectors you have, can't the map parameters be adjusted accordingly?

well i suppose thats the call i should make, although they do know. Wouldnt that then be a custom map of sorts?

Mind you i do wonder how many people have mapped cars then change injectors not knowing etc it cant be too major an issue especially if fuelling is correct?

One of the things I'm confused about you going for a generic remap is that you've played with your engine, surly a custom map would be better with what you've done?

injectors are the only thing ive done. as regards a custom map.......simply......cant afford one. this map has ended up being basically a gift so cost is just diesel.

Custom will be better! i know that, but £60 costs i cant ignore

Thought you've done more than that? lol

Nope, just freed up some pipework, removed some vac pipe and egr delete. All fairly non consequential with regatd to a map, she just breathes easier.

110 injectors? Should not be a problem. They just apply a generic map designed for an ASV and be done with it.

Larger injectors? Then you're in custom map territory... Welcome to my world ;)

trouble is 110 engine has different turbo, manifold and a few other bits

You sure about that?

I was pretty convinced that the manifolds are the same - as are the turbos.

The block on an ASV oil cools the pistons whereas the ALH doesn't.

Only other difference is the nozzles as far as I know... I used to think possibly the fuel pump but the ALH has a better pump than the ASV.

just phoned awesome and they will only put on the map for the engine that i have

There's no doubt it'll help... You might however find that because it's designed for smaller nozzles they may extend the injection duration, which on bigger nozzles will result in issues from over fuelling...

You might need to drop the IQ after getting your map done.

Nothing that a man of your talents can't cope with though i'm sure :)

ive actually suspected thjis and just in case the journey home is a nightmare i have returned the iq to stock 32768 and done hammer mod until i was getting 5.2 iq mg, so she is a tiny bit on lean side, so overfuelling should bring me between the 3-5 it should be at. have to say shes alot quieter since i did this

oh and im to expect 58nm torque increase and about 25-30 bhp. so over all if i get 125 - 130 ill be a happy man

Edited by Lofty79

That'd be a pretty decent result!

well i recon im at 100 now based on injectors decat etc etc, so if i get 25 bhp from map........well thats what id like

I can't see any reason why you'd not get to that point to be honest... The ALH is a very workable lump. :)

ill be doing a rollin road so ill know. If there is a thread saying " im well happy look what the map did" then itll have gone well. If there is no thread then ..... well......
