Have a weird scenario here, sometimes the boot will open other times it won't. Not sure what to check first as other threads point to total failure, what's to look at and a good starting point?

I guess it will either be the switch or the solenoid. You could try using the switch inside the car, if it still only opens 50% of the time perhaps repair or replace the solenoid, perhaps clean and oil the moving parts first.

To what extent not opening? is it making a noise but just not releasing?

Guys I found the problem there is a little white bracket that attaches to a cable there is a white plug on each end this unhooked its self.
