Pd160 turbo anyone fitted or know?

Featured Replies

Is it possible ?

Anyone done

And gains please

To my knowledge PD160 and PD150 turbos are the same unit. Its a more reliable turbo than stock PD130, but gains are not that significant. You get a reliable 190bhp, maybe approaching 200 with other mods to complement it.

There's a scrap yard local I went in for the winders for my seats and stumbled across it and for £250 could be a steal but if there the same turbo what gives it the extra 10bhp over the pd150?

Engine mapping. I believe they are the same with a small difference, can't remember what it was tho. Was on here I seem it

Pd150 runs 1.5bar. Pd160 runs 1.55bar.

Pd150 runs 1.5bar. Pd160 runs 1.55bar.

This - same unit but they push the tuning a little further for the "Cupra" thing. :)

I was gonna say - they're both GT1749VB's so they must be identical.

Most PD150s are also Cupras. If anything, the Leon should have more power, it's bigger! ;)

Sorry to bump a dormant thread, but I've searched and this is the closest to what Im looking for!

I've managed to get hold of a low milage Ibiza Cupra turbo(checked part no etc, def the real deal), to replace my BV39.

My only question is will the EGR line up, as I want to keep it connected for now. Just didnt want to get it all apart and then find I needed a blanking kit!(money is a bit tight).

Am I to understand the BPX Ibiza engine was all pneumatic and the BUK is electric actuator etc? In that case this turbo is off a BPX....

Im sure that the 150 and 160 turbo's differ

I have a 150 arl leon ;) running 1.6 bar

From what I've been told, only where the connection for the intercooler pipework comes off(bottom for PD160, back for PD150?) iirc.

Yes thats what i thought

I'm running pd150 with all supporting mods and map at 27psi and she pulls 200hp with 365ft/ib ????

Very much on the limits there

It's been running this now 4 months with no problems

I don't know if there the same turbo but the limits of my Cupra pd160 are more than what some are saying the pd160 Ibiza turbo is good to about 215 bhp and maxed out at 220 bhp Meny people are running this power level on there Cupra ibiza pd160s

No it isn't /\

They will be using a hybrid version. Or have some terrrible rollers!

200bhp is the limit of the 150/160 turbo's in standard form.

I made 186bhp on mine. Nice and safe

Well that's funny then becasue my pd 160 Ibiza has ran 195bhp on amds rollers 206bhp on rollers at Ricky concept and 198bhp rebel power pipes

Yes which is what i said 200bhp. 2 rollers have put it below 200bhp so im pretty bang on?

You average over 3 rolling roads is 199.6bhp??

Which according to Garrett themselves is the absolute upper reliable limit iirc?

Meanwhile I'm very gingerly continuing to run about 175-180 on a KKK BV39! :S

Seen one of them go boom in real life!

Was fantastic!

Could hardly see was like a bomb going off
