Genuine Skoda TDi map versions?

Featured Replies

A nice chap had a look at my Octavia today with thoughts to a possible Revo remap, and determined that it could be done but not by him. No problem with that.

What he did determine however was that the version number on my ECU was 3x,xxx, and the call to Revo determined that the map they used as a starting point was 8x,xxx and they believed that a newer Skoda one existed than that one.

It was suggested to me that it was possible (likely) that the software on my car was way out of date, and as my main driver for the remap was economy rather than performance, it would make a lot more sense to ensure that I'd tried the latest Skoda map before looking aftermarket with all that entails. Sound advice.

The car was in for service at the local main agent not that long ago and when I asked about ECU updates was told that there wasn't one for my car. Before I go and ask again, does anyone have access to the list of current versions for each car (or more particularly my car) so i know it the trip to the dealer would be worthwhile? I realise that the Greenline might well have a different ECU coding from the regular 1.6TDis, which might explain the difference.

While I'm thinking of it, does VAGCOM disclose the ECU version? It would be nice to know if there was an ECU version difference between those that claim great mileage and those like me that don't.

Thanks - just checked, not there.

I did have a chat with another Skoda workshop during the week and, whilst they didn't know the ecu codings to hand (to see if the G/L is the same as the regular ones), they could conform that there has been no updates issued since launch.
