9 days/620 miles in VRS TSi Hatchback

Featured Replies

So it's just been over a week since I picked this beauty up and I'm well happy and impressed with it and definitely so far so good, this past week has been a higher than average mileage due to the new factor and wanting to try it out.

From the factory:

  • Race blue
  • Black Alicanatra with red stitching
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Xenons
  • Maxidot

Added

  • Wheelguard on the alloys
  • Under-bonnet insulation 1Z0863631A (from Skodaparts) - annoyingly I've managed to drop one of the clips in the engine bay when fitting it (will no doubt be lost when I get up to speed the first time, so I'll order a replacement clip at some point)
  • Briskoda sticker
    Now branded!
  • 7P6035730J Bluetooth module - took around 3 hours to fit, scans for Bolero and the like below as I know when I was looking for HW/SW versions I found it a minefield picking the right one. I can get stereo streaming from my iPhone 4 via the iPod or Spotify, phonebook syncs and I can use the Maxidot. Got the module from eBay and the loom from car systems.

  • Breaking in wise I've been taking it mostly easy sitting around the 2k RPM mark with the odd occasion once warmed up of using it to it's full ability pulling away, overtaking etc.
  • I've used no oil as yet, it seems washer fluid takes the mantle of what you need to fill often (I've filled up a litre - but not sure how full it was when I collected it - should've checked).
  • I've been tracking the MPG for the past 300 odd miles (not using the dash but an app on my phone) and have got an average of 29.8 MPG, hopefully that'll creep to early 30s once bedded in properly

Can highly recommend getting one and have already developed a bit of an affinity with the brand (even with the poor experience between ordering and collection). You do get very paranoid leaving it parked up, although it does aid your fitness as you do tend to park the furthest away from where you're going so you're in the empty spaces - well documented in it's own thread.

It has got bloody dirty with all this horrible weather, and I've kerbed it and put just short of an inch thin scrape on the front nearside alloy - still in 2 minds what to do with this so presently she isn't looking as sharp as she could.

When you getting it remapped?

Get used to this, the headlight washers have a drink problem :giggle:

Ditto most of your comments with the exception of the extras, tho I have put the same Britskoda sticker in the same place on the same colour vRS as you........ Only difference is an extra 20mpg I'm getting from my Blackline!

Parainoa is indeed one of the only downsides......but one well worth it according to my imaginary friend

Great to hear so other positive comments on what is a great car whether it's TFSI or CR .

I've got the same spec...xenons, maxidot , rear park and also added the Bluetooth module . I bought mine second hand and it's now done 35k and is two years old. Deffo recommend getting it remapped. Mine averages about 35-37mpg over a tank on mixed daily driving. ...not thrashing it but still making progress!

Well I did a round trip of 505 miles this weekend to see XH558 (The Vulcan) and according to the DIS we managed 43.7 MPG, longest I've spent in it since I bought it. It coped well with the weekend and the boot still has oodles of free space, even after some retail up there. The A3 would have been full with our overnight gear and what shopping we bought.

Rubber mats are great in this weather.

Glad you are enjoying it.

Paul

Glad you are enjoying your car. I picked up the same model/colour/engine and I love it. Covered 4500 miles since buying it brand new start of September. Did about 1200 in the last 2 weeks, driving around the UK.

The extras I got on mine were light assist/spare wheel/parking sensors.

Already ordered and partly fitted a 'winter pack' - rubber boot line, rubber floor mats and mudguards.

Oil - perhaps wrongly, have not checked the oil. Having owner two previous VAG cars, I can say have never had a problem with excessive oil use *touches wood*

  • 2 months later...

Just too update my post above, have now covered nearly 6000 miles since September and still I have not needed to top up my oil.

I cam confirm though that I am loving my car!

Paul.
