Fan running after engine switched off.

Featured Replies

This is the 2nd time this has happened to me now. When i switch the car off and get out i noticed the fan still running. I called skoda last time and they said it was normal.

Today its 1 degree outside and i went for a short drive to walk the dog. On the return trip home is when this incident occured.

Why on earth would the fan run? Surley the engine cant be warm.

I only do really short journeys at the moment i.e 2 miles each way to and from work. Matbe a couple of miles at night to walk dog. Could this fan be linked to a regen for the DPF?

Yep you got it, an interrupted regen, fans go to cool the exhaust down.

Take her for a blast down the motorway to clear the DPF out, that should keep it at bay for a few weeks.

Cheers. Any excuse for blast is welcomed.

& only 60 miles south to find a Motorway.

Snow on the Tyrebagger this morning, so it will not be a blast to Blackburn Kinellar

have fun.

My Mazda does this fairly regularly. Dealer says its something to do with DPF regen.

Yea the roads were pretty dodgy this morning. My initial thoughts while driving were - was deciding not to buy winters a good decision? - Time will tell.

I dont think im doing my car many favours of late. Not really my fault as i can only work where im told but my mileage is really low at the moment and with a wet boot floor due to dog im switching on all the demisters and heaters etc on each start up to fight the condensation. Poor battery must be really suffering.
