Carbonio CAI

Featured Replies

My package arrived yesterday! so i had to rush home and fit my new CAI. I found it really easy and took about 1 & a half hours, took the car for a spin and have to say did not seem any different except for the whoooosh etc. no gains felt in the power department but after trying a couple of roads that i know what speed i can get to! i was making 10mph more than before! also from a standing start its much better reduced turbo lag which means its a lot easier to get the power down and not suddenly have this great big surge of power and spin the wheels.

So al in all yes it has made a difference but in a subtle way that there is no power gains to notice but less lag so power is on quicker which equals quicker time and spedd from point to point.

Just one question, when you mess about and add bits on does it affect the re-map? ie should it be done again to suit new bits and pieces ?

from my understanding, the ecu will adapt to the new bits and pieces automatically, BUT, to get the full benefit from any new components a re-remap would be required :)

The gains from re-remapping with a CAI are probably not worth it though, but if youadd new downpipe & exhaust or FMIC, then they probably are...

How did you fit it? Did you remove the front bumper? Wheel arch liner?

i did remove the front wheel arch trim but only 5 screws and squeezed the filter in. Was very easy really even though instructions did miss out a couple of fixings on the airbox/battery.

When I fitted mine, i managed to get the filter down behind the headlight without removing the the liner or bumper, just had to shift the wires a little.

However to service it, I will definitely consider just removing either the liner or bumper...

I looked at doing that 1st but the filter was about 2" bigger than the gap, even with the wiring completely out of the way. It was no bother at all moving the liner out a bit.

Why service it?

The more crap on it the less crap goes through it, the cleaner it is the more oil will hit my maf...Mines ok (technical response to similar comment) after 20k :D

Might be wrong mind ;)
