Hi all, me again! My Octavia, although a lovely car, has needed a bit of work so far! The next item I need to look at is gear linkage related. It was fine until just after I serviced it, although didn't touch anything whilst servicing that was in this area. Basically, where in neutral the gear stick should obviously return to the centre of the gate, that doesn't happen. So to sum up, if I was in neutral and moved the stick to the left, it would stay at that side of the gate. Seems a bit more hard to move than normal too, although it goes in to gear without issue. Thoughts? Thanks all!

There is a little white plastic thing on the linkage that connects to the gearbox, i broke abit off mine on my vrs and now and again during agreesive gear changes the whole linkage would move over and then neutral would be all over the place, worth a check.

Try a linkage reset (covered on here) and greasing up all the joints, moving parts etc.
