Fabia 1.6 HDi service costs

Featured Replies

Just booked my monte in for it's 40k service. This is the first one I have had to pay for now that my three free services from my finance plan have finished.

Anyway, I asked for the cost of the service while booking it in and it's a good job I was sitting down.

Dealership quoted £450 - reduced to £383.50 after discount. Can someone tell me what they do for this? If this is going to be the ongoing host every 10,000 miles then the fabia is going and I will get something with a variable service schedule. A BMW would only need servicing every 25,000 miles with their intelligent service schedule, and the last service on my dads 330d was only £520!!!!!

Is this the usual cost or are the dealer taking liberties?

4 years is probably big fluid change time - coolant and brake fluid at a guess.

It should be listed in the book what gets done but from reading on here, always, always shop around.

It's not 4 years, it's 40000 miles. Car is 15 months old

It'll be the same service - Fabia is 12 month or 10,000 miles, so yours will be the 4th service, a major one.

The cost of a minor service is less, but if you're banging the mileage on, what choice do you have?

Try another Skoda dealer, then get a quote from a VAT registered garage - won't invalidate your warranty.

I would expect something closer to £250-£300, but then again I'm not too familiar with diesels. I just know they tend to be a bit more expensive on servicing, compared to petrols. Do make sure you shop around as much as possible.

By the way, does your Fabia have a Citroen engine??? (HDi)

By the way, does your Fabia have a Citroen engine??? (HDi)

That's probably why its so expensive - the skoda techs aren't used to working on Citroen engines so have charged extra.... ;-)
