My boot doesn't open when it's cold

Featured Replies

It's happened once before since the cold snap started in London and this morning was the second time. I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do to get access or do I just have to live with it? I try to open it using the key fob and there is mechanical sound but you can hear its struggling to open it.

Propably the rubber seals that stick. Better not use the remote to open the boot, might be a bit harsh on the boot release. Better push the boot release manually and gently pull upwards (not to briskly!)

To prevent this from happening, you should always wipe the rubber seals around the doors/boot when they have gotten wet. If you really want to, you could always get a good ol' tub of Vaseline and rub some on the door seals, that should keep them in good nick.

Nooooo don't put vaseline on rubber. It'll crumble.

Use a silicone based grease or spray.

Crap that is what I meant!
