Columbus FW upgrade ?

Featured Replies

Hi we have a 58 plate Vrs with Columbus.

I would like to know whats the safest Fw to update it to ,to allow me to use 7 digit post codes? I have a V7 map disc already.

Delivery # 1Z0035680A

HW #H04

SW # 1004

I understand that its an A model (early version) and have already tried version FW2760 which came up with error 010306.

After doing a little googling it seems this version is not suitable for the A version columbus.

Can someone point me in the right direction please ?

Have a read of the firmware threads on 'My GTI' website or look for posts from 'Josi' on here and on 'VW Navi' forum.

I had exactly this setup and upgraded to 3814, then 4024 with no issues apart from stained pants as I waited for it to install, with all the noises etc it made. I located software specially adapted for A revisions, starting from the my gti website as kb suggests. Whatever you do use good media, verbatim was fine for me.

You will need to reload your music as well as the maps as the HDD gets reformatted by FW3xxx or higher.

Also unless the maps are v7.1 or 7.2 you will lose points of interest as the new means of storing these is not compatible with older map discs. But 7 digit searching will work.

Hope that helps

Thanks for reply's. Ive read that the unit becomes a B version when updated on some firmware?

The part number did change for me, to 3T0035680B, so yes a b revision, with a superb prefix!!

Not sure about the 1Z0...A models but my 3T0...A now shows as a 'B' version as well.

Yes, I upgraded mine to 2684 with V9 maps and get the 7 digit post code fine now.

Ive tried to do an upgrade to 2660 using a disc (tdk dvd+r) from the same supplier with exactly the same results error 010303.

Anyone any ideas where its going wrong ?

I have a copy of a 3xxx firmware (the actual release firmware as opposed to any beta or modified versions) that worked in my Columbus first time.

No guarantee it will work on yours, but I can send it to you if you PM me your address.

adamal is correct - 266x will not give you 7 digit postcode. I had 2664 installed with factory fit Columbus (Dec 09) and it did not have the 7 digit function. I have just gone through the process of upgrading my firmware (and maps) to give 7 digit functionality - which is described on this thread here:

http://www.briskoda....lumbus-upgrade/

There is a useful thread here if you haven't seen it before:

http://www.mk5golfgt...ic,23779.0.html

Also on that site is another thread

http://www.mk5golfgt...p?topic=23271.0

and a post which states: "You need 268X or higher to get the 7 Digit functionality to work."

This thread seems very relevant for you (same unit and fw):

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/253208-columbus-firmware/

I haven't checked 100% but I think there is a possible issue about "swapping files" - but there is modified fw about to do this for you - good luck!

Thanks for replies guys. Im a little worried about signing up to the file sharing sites via txt etc which is one of the things that puts me off.

Will investigate further at the weekend.
