Changing door hinges

Featured Replies

Does anyone have experience of the changing the door hinges?

I picked up a pair today for the drivers door, but the breakers that removed them said they're a hell of a job to remove?!

I know they're not welded, they are second hand and I have them in a bag at home.

The guy that removed them said that to remove the top hinge he had to take the fuse box and lower dash out, and to remove the bottom he needed to remove the kick panel and bonnet release lever.

The plan was to change them over Christmas down at the folks, but thinking now I might wait until Jan and see if the car passes the MOT first.

It is not a easy job buddy, I did it some time back and vowed never to do it again. Replaced top hinge. I removed the wing to get to the torx bolts. They are not welded but dam tight and unless you have a special tool as a allen key torx will not have enough force to undo the bolts without removing the wing to get good clearance.
