Service codes changed and Monte on variable servicing

Featured Replies

Just been having a closer look at the owners handbook, service book etc. that came with the new Monte TSI 86 and discovered not only have the service regime codes changed from QG0, 1 or 2 but our Monte was factory set for variable servicing on a QI6 code.

Learn something new every day, although we have a fixed service plan through the finance, therefore will be servicing the car on time or distance anyway but might now ask for longlife oil to be used, as this must be what's in the engine currently.

Oh there are four fixed service codes now (QI1, 2, 3 and 4) with differing mileages from 5000km to 15000km.

TP

QI6 means it is capable of either fixed or variable

my GLII and daughters monty both had QI6 code but were deliverd as fixed

i did put a thread up july'ish about this, spoke to service manager showed him service book and code, he took it out back to speak to "master tech" and that was the answer " can be set to either fixed or variable" which would i prefer

said variable, 5 minutes later keys in hand and car on variable service

the way to check is push the left hand button on the dash several times (first few allow you to change time) then you will see how long before service

mine said about 18k once swapped over to variable in june

mine is on QI6 too, says I have just under 9000 miles until first service - I was told by dealer that my car should be serviced every year.

depends on the milage you do, if you do over 12-15k a year then variable service makes sense, if you do 10k or less then fixed interval is the way to go

QI6 means you have the option for either service regime
