Are you for real?

Save up for coilovers and sell your shocks and spring if they don't lower your car enough, don't cut your springs that's a gold star pikey mod

Believe it or not i actually watched american restoration programme and they cutvthe springs :o

I nearly fell off my seat!

You cant cut them as the diameter at the bottom and top its different to the main body if you know what i mean. So if you chop them they wont sit properly on the top mount / strut correctly! Plus the damping rates will be shot to fluff

Cutting springs was a procedure used in the 80s on these cars...Dacia 1300 :giggle::rofl:

The springs aren't parallel IIRC so it can't be done. Some springs it can be done on, not advisable but not a problem... I chopped the springs down on my Renault 5 years ago, passed every MOT I had with it :)

Not a good idea to cut spring as these days the springs are shaped top and bottom to fit the car appropriately. Also springs are matched to the car to give the right progressive ride. H&R springs are well made for the job and only lower car between 15 to 20mm to match the struts well. If you want lower replace the springs or go for coilovers.

not too mention the heat generated with cutting can effect the strength of the spring

I had cut springs on my old mk2 Golf. Were fine just I certainly wouldn't recommend doing it! Haha. I didn't care at the time as I was poor and the car was worth like £200. Not good for a big heavy Octavia though.
