A wheel question, about weight

Featured Replies

Ive currently got 17" audi s3 avus alloys on my fabia, but theyre so god damn heavy. Was looking at a set of 17" rs6 alloys, 5x100 so no adapters.

What sort of weight are the compared to my ten tonne avus', was wanting some lighter-weight wheels, and they look smart. But also i was after something that may clear brembos with a little spacer? If they do, if not i'll just buy 312's as i doubt i'll see much track action

Any thoughts?

Luke

Any 17" "rs6 style" wheels will be reps, so possibly just as heavy if not more so than your S3 wheels. I`v been running TD Pro race 3 wheels for the past 18 months, quite light wheels, but putting my S3 wheels back on and I`v not noticed them being massively heavier as I thought I would.

If your building a car to be as light as possible and to handle as well as possible then yeah I`d pick by weight but otherwise I`d just scout about for wheels I like the look of most.

So theres not a massively noticeable difference in running lighter wheels? I have no idea tbh but the current ones do weigh a substantial amount compared to my old 16" audi TT alloys

I noticed going from 16" wheels to the 17" S3 wheels quite a difference. But going between different types of 17" wheels, S3 avus/Octavia Spiders/TD Pro races I`v not noticed a huge difference, well not enough for me to choose which wheels I use just on weight.

I was planning to get the TDs refurbished and use them all summer and keep the S3 wheels for winter (as I`ve done this year). Now I`v put them on again, and prefer the looks I`m going to get them refurbished and use them all the time, just use the TDs for track purposes.
