Droning noise -'52 fabia estate 1.9

Featured Replies

Hi

Havn't used the car for a while but running down to the coast today we detected an intermittent droning noise which I initially thought might be the exhaust.

However rolling downhill in neutral and the noise was still there but not all the time. Seemed mostly at about 45mph.

Wife reckons she could feel a very slight vibration at the same time.

On checking there was no obvious heat at the wheel centres.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

My thoughts are wheel bearings or drive shaft issues.

Any advice gratefully received.

Cheers

Dave

Sounds exactly as mine did when the wheel bearing went kaput.

Bearing...........

mine is doing the same......just passed the MOT with an advisory on "slight noise fron ns bearing".............WITH NO PLAY in it............!!!

If no vibration through steering wheel........and straight braking with no vibration...and it is there when the car is rolling with the clutch depressed then defo bearing

Thanks matt1chelski and fabdavrav

I'll check it out during the week.

Is it likely that I'll feel any play as it passed the MOT only a month ago and wasn't picked up then?

Have to get the workshop manual out to see how to get at it!

Thanks

Dave
