Hi all,

I drive an octy vrs 2001, and i am having problems with my offside headlight, my nearside light is fine, but the offside beam drops just a few feet infront of the car, its not too bad on small roads in lit up areas but on dual carriageways and motorways that are unlit it is awful, there is such a differrance that my vision along the offside of the carriageway is impaired and in bad weather it is boardering on the dangerouse. I have taken the car to two garages who both say that the lights are fine, i am currently using 100wt halogen rally bulbs in an attempt to improve offside vision but without any luck, I have previously tried 'night breakers' etc and it was just the same.

Does anybody know of a cure for this problem, it would certainly make my nightime driving more comfortable.

Thanks in anticipation :(

Have you tried the adjuster controller near to the headlight switch?

The motors in the headlight assembly can fail and cause the direction of the light to be wrong.

^ that would be my first check also, I had a similar prob a while back on my Fabia and the motorised adjuster had failed.

just to be certain, the bulb IS located as it should be, right?

As the OP has tried multiple bulbs, hopefully he is getting them in right.... or maybe the headlight assembly is borked, if not the common issue we both refer to above :-)

My first thought was of a failed height adjuster too; not like it's exactly an unusual problem.

I have taken the car to another garage, they say the hight adjustment motor is working fine but for a reason unknown to them the hight limit on the o/s was lower than that on the n/s, anyway they have fixed that so i am looking forward to going out tomorrow night and being able to see where i am going.

Thank you to all that have made sugestions your help realy is apreciated.

Thanks for getting back to us. It looks like someone set the RH headlight aim up wrong then.
