Monte Tailgate Not Shutting ?

Featured Replies

Hi

Am I doing some wrong when closing the tailgate, sometimes I have to close it a few times for it to catch. I read something on here when doing a search about closing it completely with an inside lever or something to avoid finger prints, but that might of been the Fabia Mk1.

Are there any known issues with the Fabia mk2 tailgate when new or anyway I can adjust it ?

Cheers

JJ

In this cold weather, could it be something to do with it being 'tighter' than normal?

Sorry, never had a problem with either of our two Fabia's (2 and 1 years old now). Could be the weather (cold) and the lock is sticking in the open position, maybe some lube in the mechanism may help?

There is the internal pull on the rear hatch which if you adopt the right move you can close without touching the exterior.

It will be under warranty, take it back. There is a bulletin on known tailgate latch issues and they need to check the part number of the latch to see if it needs replacing.

Interesting; our previous 2010 Elegance had issues were the boot would not always unlock with the rest of the doors. Dealer supposedly checked it out on three occasions but claimed NFF every time :wonder:

My lad's previous Mk I also needed a new boot and offside rear door lock (just over seven years old at the time) for the same reason. Covered by a RAC warranty when he bought the car, oddly though the offside lock was covered the boot not :wonder: :wonder:

My wife had the same problem with her Fabia, so I guess it could be a known issue, the dealer had to make some kind of adjustment to the catch - it still doesn't feel '100%' when compared to my estate version though.

A colleague's pre-facelift Fabia II had the same problem, boot not shutting. Had to have the latch replaced. I think she paid something like £80 or £85 for it all, but not entirely sure. If yours is still under warranty, it "should" be covered.

On further testing, if I close it while pressing the rubber button it shut 100% of the time, so does seems to be it is not opening fully when opened.

Cheers for all the info, at least I know I am not doing something wrong, I will put up with it just now till the first service I reckon.

Actually.. Scrub that came out this morning and had to try to close it about 10 times before in would close properly, I will get it booked in for trip to the dealers.

This may be after you have pressed the locking button on the remote, more than once. I think this enables an ant-theft lock on the tailgate,

UPDATE :-

Went to local dealers and they said they will have to order a new locking mechanism in...
