Windscreen Washer Bottle Alarm

Featured Replies

I have a superb se tdi (140) from new in 2011. My old superb comfort had a warning alarm when my washer fluid was running low,but my new model does not seem to have one. Before I go to the dealer to ask, does anyone know if my model should have this feature?

Tried to find a spec list online but came up a blank. Hopefully someone could advise.

Mine's got one and it works.

If you have HID headlamps with washers, then you have the level sensor. Halogen headlamps, no sensor.

Think only the elegance gets this - I have an SE and it doesn't have it, something that i was suprised at.

Probably in line with the xenons

Ditto to wokwon - headlamp washers = fluid level indicator, no washers = no indicator.

Does seem odd not to have one at all, especially with the weather that we're now expecting.

Yeah, it's usually in this weather when you really need to know - at the moment it will be when you get the dreaded streak across the windscreen!

How cheap-skate is that - my first real disappointment! Hardly an expensive thing to add at manufacture.

But you bought the entry level (base model) Superb, did you expect to get everything that the higher models get?

Most options only cost a few £ at manufacture to add, but there has to be a spec difference otherwise why buy the more expensive trim level?

Do you not check your fluid levels before you get a warning light on anyway?

I bought a 2005 base-spec. Mondeo - and it had a warning light......

And no, I don't necessarily check my washer level every time the bonnet is open - but I do check my oil............

I bet the Mondeo didn’t have certain things the Superb has though… amazing rear legroom springs to mind.

If you are the sole driver then the washers do not need checking every time you open the bonnet (providing you open it more than a couple of times per year), you know how often you use your washers judge it on that, just like you know roughly how long your fuel will last (miles or days will do).

Too much is relied upon these driver warning lights IMO, the basics (fluids - all of them, oil, tyre pressures and condition, bulbs etc) still need to be physically checked by the driver.

My step-daughter asked me to look at her brakes on her old car as they were ’squealing’ I saw from 40’ away that she had no brakes left on the car (alloys were covered in rust from the discs being worn away from the worn out pads) when I asked how png they had been ’squealing’ she replied “only a COUPLE OF WEEKS!”

My Superb does not have HID lights, but do have the warning light.

I cant remember if my SE with Halogen lights has an audible warning but it has a orange warning light on the dash.
