Daylight Running Lights

Featured Replies

Hello!!

Just picked up a 12 plate Octy II FL Elegance Estate 2.0 TDI which is EVEN BETTER that the 57 plate 1.9 it replaced!

Now it appears to have daylight running lights but they arn't working.

I dont have MaxiDot but have read the manual and it says I can turn them on using the indicator stalk.

All I've succeeded in doing so far is putting the lights on main beam and turniong the indicators on :giggle:

Exactly what is the sequence I should be using please as I'm obviously missing something

Cheers

If the lights arnt enabled on vcds they wont work. On your car the drl lights will be in the fog lights have a look and there should be two bulbs in there. I dont beleive but I could be wrong there isnt a sequence to turn them on with out maxi dot. I think ures will need activation with in vcds. Do a search theres plenty of topics on how its done.

As above, the DRL's first need to be 'activated' either by a dealer or a friendly member with VDCS (cable, software & laptop).

Once activated you can then choose to turn them on and off using the sequence you have been trying.

As DRL's aren't compulsary on the current Octavia, Skoda UK decided not to turn them on for the UK market. Those that you see with them on (vRS & Scout excluded) have likely already had them activated by their dealer.

I noticed a DRL option when tinkering the other day.

How do they work on a Pre-FL car? Do they use the fog light bulb but dimmed down?

Phil

No, they use dipped headlights.

Two options on the pre-FL...

1) Scandinavian = dipped headlights and tail lights, on/off with the ignition.

2) United States = dipped headlights only, on/off with the handbrake.

Cool.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

On the Pre-FL they can be switched to use the fog lights instead of dipped headlights for either of the above modes. They can also be dimmed as required using VCDS. I currently use Scandanavian mode with the fog lights set to 55% :bandit:

I have skoda and i want to activate dlr's i shuld i try Pull the turn signal light lever towards the steering wheel within 3 seconds of

switching on the ignition and at the same time, slide it upwards and hold it in
this position for at least 3 seconds?

See post #3, until they are 'activated' the procedure to turn then on/off using the indicator stalk / Maxidot won't work.

Mike

My Pre-FL I can switch the scandy lights off with the indicator stalk but it's a non-permanent process.  ie: when the ignition is cycled they come back on again.
