Hi peeps, i yesterday put a deposit on a '57' Octavia 1.8 tsi elegance estate, however looking at a few sites like Parkers cant see Skoda making this model until 2009, i see a 1.8 T FSI model being manufactured between aug '07 and Oct 08 however the TSI is not showing as manufactured till 2009 ??. On the back of my car there is a narrow badge showing a T and then SI in red and the engine cover shows the engine as a TSI ?. I thought my road tax was a bit high at 215 as apparently a TSI should be 175 a year, anyone shed any light on this for me..

Ask to check the V5 and the sticker under the boot carpet and the sticker in the service book for the engine code. Wiki says 1.8TSI is BZB and was used from 2007 >

Think i got the stealer to write the Chassis number on my receipt so will check this when i get home, cars about 40 miles away. I've also got Dekra doing an inspection for me but will call the garage anyhow and get them to look at the service book for engine number..thanks for your response mate..

How on earth are you managing to find your car as a tsi on the a car tax website?? They only list a TFSI for that year??

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the 2008 Octavia brochure DOES state the engine to definitely be a 1.8TSI. but it gives the emissions as 176g/km and as such falls into Band I (176-185g/km) and as such is £215, irrelevent of what they want to call it.

There is no such band which is £175

When i checked on Sunday evening i could not find the 1.8 TSI as being produced in 2007 and this led to the confusion , however I then found this review dated August 2007

Yeah, totally different emissions count.
