DAB radio for Octavia Estate

Featured Replies

Hi,

Bought my brother a DAB radio from halfords (they said it would integrate and work with his car when they installed it) for Christmas. He went to have it fitted and they said it wouldn't and gave him a refund.

Please you advise me on how best to get a DAB for his:

Octavia estate laurent and clemment 2011

That works well and integrates well?

Thanks

Amundsen+ is a oem radio with dab fitted. But a extra arial may be needed for dab as it doesnt use a fm arial.

Thanks. So pop the old radio out and pop this one in? With an aerial upgrade too?

What sorta costs for the radio and the aerial? Are the easy to get hold of?

Are there other options?

Cheers

Just ebay it. And you also may needthe platic trim.

Just looked on eBay and there's a couple of then on there. Each have different model numbers and both mention sat Nav but not dab.

Not sure what model number. I can try have a look on my blackline.

Thanks Matty, I'd appreciate that.

Any tried the Yeti dab radio kit by the way?

Other options.....

VW RCD310DAB headunit. I picked up mine for £150 off eBay (with code). £20 for a glass-mounted aerial (mounted on the tailgate glass) from dabonwheels

Fitting is easy. The longest part was running the aerial cable to the tailgate.

The 310 is a square unit (like Columbus and Amundsen) so you may need a new console fascia.

So far haven't been able to fault the unit at all. Also has auto FM fall-back (for those stations that do have FM and DAB) so it'll be in DAB and drop to FM when the DAB signal is weak. DAB only stations will drop completely, but re-engage when the signal is strong enough again.

What model does the car currently have?

Beweare, not all Amundsen+ units have the DAB function enabled.

I got mine, a JVC, for my Fabia in 07, now transplanted it into my Octavia, got it and the fixing kit from http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ and a glass mount antenna from http://www.panorama.co.uk/

Well worth doing for all the extra channels, only drawback is when the signal goes, it goes completely and without warning, unlike FM where it can drift in and out a bit.
