Replace o2 sensor

Featured Replies

Need to replace front o2 sensor, anyone got any guides etc on doing this.

Also best place to buy one

fabia i 2001 reg 16v 1.4

Not really a guide but off the top of my head they are usually a 22mm spanner, if your lucky you might be able to knock a 21mm on but will be tight.

Heat usually helps also, plenty of penetrating spray. Once it's cracked off run it in and out a few times before removing it completely.

Good luck, some of them are a pain!

I've done this on 1.4 16V BBY engine, bought the correct tool - a socket with slot for the cable - that was a waste of time as there is not enough space on that engine to use that tool! Ended up using an open ended spanner - in my case the sensor was easy to remove. The replacement was bought from VAG - I reckoned that some of the on-line advice must be spot on so avoided buying an aftermarket one that might just survive a month or so, only other place to buy one from might be somewhere selling NKT fully assembled sensor as that will same as VAG sell.

i had a faulty O2 sensor, took it to the dealer who diagnosed it for FREE! then told me it would be £180 fitted which i thought wasn't to bad they even washed my car!
