My alternator belt has shredded leaving me stranded with a flat battery! Argh :(

On the bright side, at least it's only belt failure - unless there's an underlying cause.

Looks like the pulley on the alternator has come out about 2 inches. As its out of line it's chewed the belt. Feel lost without my Superb and it's only been gone a few hours! It's at my cousins garage now so hopefully it won't cost me too much.
