Skoda Octavia Mk1, airconditioning not working.

Featured Replies

Hi all, We've booked to go to the south of France in June and are planning on going in our Octavia. It's an S Reg and runs a treat. The only issue is since I have owned it the air conditioning hasn't worked and I have never looked into it. The light illuminates on the ac button when I press it but it doesn't cool down. If I was to go and get this checked out, at worse what sort of price would I be looking at to get it sorted?

The reason I am asking is I only paid 270 quid for the car and if it's going to be expensive to fix it's probably not worth it.

Cheers

This time of year, a/c on these cars won't work because the ambiant temp is too low. End of.

Cheapest way to see if you can get it working is to wait until the air temp is about 10C, say March, and take it to Kwik Fit for an a/c recharge. Either it just needs regassed and will cost you about £50, or you need a new compressor and/or condensor which will cost more than you spent on the car and Kwik Fit won't charge for the regas.
