MPG Display Problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a problem with the Computer on my Skoda Fabia 1.9TD 2007

When I start the car the computer displays the average MPG but when I start driving the MPG display jumps up and down. The only thing I have done recently is changed the battery. Can anyone suggest how I can fix this problem.

Thanks.

Please find a more detailed version of my post below as I don't seem to be able to edit my original post.

When I start the car the computer the average MPG no longer displays, it just shows dots where the figures should be. A few miles after I start driving the MPG display comes up and jumps up and down. The only thing I have done recently is changed the battery. Can anyone suggest how I can fix this problem.

Thanks.

That sounds normal to me. I think it works out the average over the distance of your trip. But at first there is no average so its blank. Then the more you drive the more accurate the mpg gets.

Mine does that when it's set to the instantaneous mpg, do u get the little circle with a line through it at the top right of the figures?

Good point, you might be on current rather than average. Press the bottom rocker button on your wipers control stick, think 1 press should take you back to average, or just keep pressing till it appears.

This is most likely because your set to the 1st trip clock which resets each journey.

You need to change to the 2nd trip to get the average to stay till your reset.

The button under the wiper stalk will change from trip 1 to trip 2, be careful not to hold it though as that's how you reset your trip.

Alternatively of course you could be on current MPG instead of average MPG, which can be changed with the button on the end of the wiper stalk, if unsure just check your manual and it explains how your trip computer works, probably more clearly than we can as they have diagrams for you too.
