I'd speak to your local dealer first as it's just out of warranty. The dealer can request a goodwill payment from Skoda UK and the dealer can also apply an extra discount which can bring down the cost considerably (up to 90%). It works best if you've got a full Skoda service history as they want to keep you coming back for servicing and not have you going off exploring independant garages.

You have to be firm and persistant with Skoda UK, but you should find the dealer will be on your side and support you.

Let us know where you are in the UK and other members might be able to advise on which dealer would support your claim.

I don't do main dealer servicing because I'm a taxidriver the prices just don't compare. My dealer wouldn't bite when I tried the sympathy vote as regards to the warranty they just quoted £330 for replacement. However skoda customer service are "seeing what they can do" its a bit much really seeing as in general I think the taxi business is pretty big and we go through cars pretty quickly thus spending lots of money with them even though we don't get our cars serviced there.

If you're very handy with a soldering iron this can be replaced. Skoda will try to replace the whole instrument panel. There are a few companies that specialise in this sort of work too, if you can find one nearby. Getting the instrument panel out is very easy too - drop the steering wheel to its lowest, pop the trip strips off both sides of the steering wheel and undo two torx bolts at the bottom and it'll wiggle out. I have more detail on taking this apart on one of the threads on failed instrument panel backlights. There might be something helpful on youtube too.

As sad as this sounds but on an episode of Wheeler dealers they had a MFD replaced on a Audi TT cluster thats had pixels missing! If I remember correctly it was about £100, If you can find it on YouTube you might see the company name, Apparently VAG say it's a non-servisable part, unsurprisingly, but these guys can do it.

does any know if skoda fitted the colour lcd in the mk2 superb
