Dashboard problems

Featured Replies

Octavia Elegance hatch 2.0 TDi 140 2007 model

For the first time today, when I switched on, the dashboard indicator lights came on (but blank MFD) and when I started the car the dials sprung into action . . . . but everything went dead within a second or two.

The car drives fine, the indicators work (but without dashboard lights or audible reminder), the brake lights work BUT there is no response from the speedo, rev counter or MFD display.

Can anyone suggest what may be amiss?

I've looked through previous posts and will check fuses tomorrow, e.g. removing fuse 15, but wonder if, since these posts were written, there has been any more info as to what may be the real problem.

Like many people I hope to avoid a massive dashboard renewal bill.

I'm no expert but having had issues with my dash pod I would suspect that could be where the problem lies.

Sarge.

I had dash problems with my old mk1, but I think it only affected the dials, nothing else.

An update to my original post:

Switched on the ignition today and everything was normal, as if there had never been a problem.

Just keeping fingers crossed that the problem was 'just a glitch' which will not return.

Could have been some dampness in the dash pod, I have had something similar due to the rear washer pipe leaking behind the dash

Hopefully it'll be ok for you now but my problems were intermittent. Could go for weeks with no apparent issue or sometimes would play up a couple of times in one day.

I am having intermittent dash problems too- white smoke comes out and central locking stops working. Any ideas appreciated.
