Would these BBS alloys fit the Yeti?

Featured Replies

I'm looking at some Factory BBS alloys from a Leon. The details are 8Jx18" ET45, 5 x 112.

I'm presuming they would give more clearance on the callipers compared to the 7x17 ET45's but would they take the tyre too close to the damper unit or wheel arches? Also, I'm guessing I'd need a 235/45/18 size tyre?

Thanks in advance.

As long as the centre bore size is the same as the Yeti, I don't see why not, but I suspect the ride on such a shallow sidewall is going to be very uncomfortable on the road.

Not sure about the 235 width though.

Ask Bahnstormer what he uses. He has 18's on in summer.

Ill drop Bahnstormer a PM - thanks.

An 8J wouldnt get with anything less than a 235 width tyre though? I certainly dont want the tyre peeled back look on the alloys. Theres more to it than just the PCD and bore also, they need to clear my brakes and the damper body - maybe a post in another section where they run the Porsche brakes is a thought.....

I think you will need to try them to check the clearance against the suspension struts. There isn't a lot with the standard 225 tyres.

I'm not going there, I can't even get two fingers between the strut and the side of the standard tyre wall at the rear! An 8j wheel is just asking for trouble IMO. Thanks.

An 8” rim is going to be 13mm closer to the strut / inner arch (and the outside wheel arch) , BUT given that the tyre is only 10mm wider than what you currently have fitted I would say providing you can get 1 finger between the tyre and arch at the moment you should be fine (my fingers are 20mm wide)
