Intercooler removal

Featured Replies

Hi

Last week i had a stupid little accident when reversing out of petrol station,

I caught the bottom of front bumper, on a very high kerb !

It pulled the bumper away from fixings. and not long after that car started stuttering and

Engine management light came on. to day because of a break in the weather

I finally got chance to have a look at it. I have pulled the intercooler forward and the bottom

Bracket has broke out of it taking a piece of plastic casing with it.leaving a hole the size of 5p

I luckily found correct intercooler used for £ 61 delivered on e bay

I just wondered what the easiest way to change them over would be ?

Would i manage just by taking off inner wing , and bottom engine covers

Or would i have to remove front bumper ?

Car is a 2007 1.9 td with a bpz engine

Don't bother faffing about, just remove front bumper (only takes ten minutes to get the bumper off), then removing the i/c is easy; a couple of bolts hold it in place IIRC. Careful when refitting, it's easy to not quite get the U clips in their relevant positions and an intercooler hose can then pop out.
