In the market

Featured Replies

Im now in the market for a Octavia Vrs

Is there anything i should be looking for in terms of spec. I know when i had my fabia the "in spec" to have would have been leather and xenons. Is there anything similar i should look out for?

Also id love a dsg, although after browsing how rare they seem to be im not set on one, but if i did get one can they manage any extra power if it came to dpf removals and maps later down the line.

I need a derv, in black or blue i think, good service and preferable below 80k miles (£7k(ish) budget)

Any advice welcome and if anybody knows of any nice ones let me know

cheers

With your budget you are looking at around 2007 to 2008.

The biggest spec consideration here will be whether you go for a PD170 or the later CR170 diesel engine.

The CR170 was introduced to the vRS in 2008 so you may just find one within your budget. A quik search on here will reveal the pro's and con's of each, which you may already be aware of.

Personally I'd stick with the PD. Plenty of choice, keen prices and there are quite a few well specced ones out there.

I spent around six months waiting for my ideal vRS to come along (hatchback, race blue, full Skoda history, xenon's, rear parking sensors, curtain airbags, cruise, auto wipers, maxidot and active head restraints.

Be aware that some early models (and some imports) don't get rear electric windows, Climatronic, the Jumbo Box / central armrest and also get 17" Zenith alloys instead of 18".

Finally, all PD170's were recalled by Skoda to replace the injectors. Make sure you check to see if this has been done before you buy (even though you can still get them done free of charge after you buy).

I'm not an 'auto' kind of guy but there are plenty on here who are and have had theirs remapped with no issues.

Another thing to check is the DMF (dual mass flywheel), it will fail at some point so if you are looking at high milers then take it for a good test drive.

The DPF can be removed for less than £500 too.

Cheers for the advice pal, think i would rather stick to the pd aswell

Are xenon's not standard on all of them? Id like climate aswell if poss.. whats the best stereo to get is that maxidot?

xenons are not standard at all.

Maxidot is the more detailed display on the dash which allows for you to adjust settings. Again, its an extra, especialy on early models.

In november I paid 7.4k for a 56 plate with 69k. With xenons, maxidot, climatronic heating, cruise control etc. Unless prices have dropped thats the kind of age you'd be looking at. Also depends what prices are like in lincolnshire as im in wiltshire, the south west being notoriously pricey compared to the north
