engine management light

Featured Replies

HI

After a recent wee shunt where i hit a high kerb when reversing car , and ended up jerking front bumper free from a few screws

I noticed that exhaust smoke was a lot blacker, and a bit of stuttering, and finally engine management light came on,

After an inspection of that area i found that bottom mounting had ripped free from inter cooler leaving a 5p sized hole in plastic casing

And air hissing from there. so on e bay i found a used one . and after a bit of B*******G about got it fitted started car no leaks ...HOORAY

Looked at dash engine management light still on?????. switched off car and turned ignition on all lights went out !

Except the engine management light, and i still hadnt started engine. do i need to go get it reset ?? or would disconnecting battery do it ?

Or knowing my luck prob something else wrong

Car is a superb 1.9td 2007 bpz engine type

I think EML goes out after 5 restarts once the problem has been cleared.

Have you had the car scanned or are you just assuming it was the intercooler putting the EML on?

Up till now just assuming that big hole in intercooler casing was causing EML to come on

As it only came on after the accident , and can see no other apparent faults

But if it stays on i will have to have it scanned
