I want to fit lowering springs, but not coilies, as a cheap way of replacing broken front spring.

Can I use Golf MkIV 40mm lowering springs or do they have to be Octy vRS specific?

They will fit but the weight of an octy is greater so the spring rate will differ. Maybe find some vw bora ones as they have a boot too but octy specific ones will always be better.

The previous owner of my car put in Apex springs, and I have a sneaky suspicion that they're weighted for a Golf because it sits noticeably lower at the back.

Fronts may work, the rears fit but poundage is all wrong Octy got a big a$$ compared to Golf

If you fit springs not made for your car you will mess up the handling and ride of your car and then you will prob go out and buy the corect ones anyway .So i would say buy once and get the corect ones it will save you money in the long run. I had the wietec springs on my old vrs and they were very good just like stock but 35mm lower .

Been stated many times, only buy Octy springs. Other VAG group will fit but will mess up your handling big time as wrong poundages

why you going sorn?? if you don't mind me asking. not another WRC off the road....

MOT due March and tax due end of Feb.

No money and too cold to go and sort out the Spring and a couple of minor problems.

Might still get sold when MOT'd but Vrs mk1 not worth much now. Be lucky to get 2k
