Anyone got a rust around their number plate lights?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Was opening my boot the other day and noticed some significant rust around the number plate lights, anyone else come across this?

I'll take a pic when I can but it looks a bit excessive for splashback, does the boot lid suffer from water ingress too???

Cheers

D

Very common problem on the Superb. I had mine repainted once and it has never come back. I've also sealed the bulb cases with silicone to prevent water leakage.

known issue had mine done under warrenty last year

The Superb body is described as being fully galvanised in the relevant sales brochure. This is quite evidently not the case.

Again, nice people to do business with.

As usual, use the Internet to find out the design faults and take action - as with all of the others such as water ingress. There is no chance whatever of redress from VAG. The body rust "warranty" is just a joke.

Hi Bodie, was that under the original manufacturers warranty or did you buy it fairly recently?

Hi Cown, do you mind if I ask how much it cost to get it repainted?

Thanks

Mine was done in the 10 year warranty

Ah, found your original post Bodie, I was obviously searching for the wrong thing the first time lol :giggle:

I'll give the Hull Skoda garage a bell today, found the below web page and it says there's a 10 year warranty against rust on the Superb:

Bout £140

I got my boot lid replaced under warranty last year for that reason (55 plate).

Also check the rubber/plastic trim at the bottom of the rear wheel arches. I had rust behind them, so they were done under warranty at the same time.

Shame Seat won't honour their paint/body work warranty in the same way Skoda do!

Mines bad and getting worse. Really need doing! Is a new boot the way to go or just repaint?

I have on my 2004 Occy.... Going in tomorrow for a warranty repair!
