Small problems on my fabia.

Featured Replies

Alrighty!

Well I picked up my first ever skoda on Saturday and have drove it since. Then I noticed that the engine was rocking quite a bit. Took it into my work to check but didn't really find anything visual. Saw my egr is leaking but don't think that will rock the engine. Me not really knowing the engines that much asked some one who has a passat and he said injector seals are going, anyone else had this problem? Also heard my flywheel is making a loud racket. I don't want to take anything off die to having warranty on the car or I'd have had it apart and fixing it now :-/. Just wondered if any of you guys have experienced these problems or are they just normal to the pd130's?

Thanks!

It's a diesel and movement is normal (hence why they have mounts designed to allow them to move slightly to avoid that vibration transferring through the chassis as much). As to what's normal the easiest way is to find another one and compare but an engine mount is a lot cheaper/easier and more likely than an injector seal.

As to the flywheel when exactly do you notice it? All the time? Only at a certain speed etc?

Not known injector seals to go often on PD130s. In fact I'm not aware of anyone having that on a fabia vRS.

Maybe a scan with VCDS will reveal something?

As above, there is a mount attached to the bottom of the engine with a rubber bush to hold the engine, but also allow some movement. If that bush has shot, it might allow some more movement than might appear normal.

Flywheel (dual mass) also go, especially on remapped cars as the torque tears the two parts of the flywheel apart. First they rattle, then they die.... If replacing, worth looking at stronger kits - eg single mass ones. Depends on your aim with the car of course.

Cheers for the replys!

I did have a look at the mount and there didn't seem to be any play in the mount. I might just buy a mount to see if that will help.

As for the flywheel, I can't hear it while driving I only heard it when I was underneath her at idle, when you stick you ear up to the box, it sounds like a clunking noise every so often. I have never really heard this noise on a flywheel/gearbox before. :-/.

If I don't get the flywheel fixed (which I don't thin I will) would I be better getting a smf, rather than a dfm?
