VCDS - Changes to be made

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My car has got to go in for its service next month and they are changing it from 10k/yearly service to variable. I have seen that to change the car from fixed to variable they will need to use VCDS so what I want to know is what changes can be done through VCDS as I will ask them to change some.

I know you can do things like single click unlocks all doors rather than clicking the unlock button twice.

Any info would be great.

P.S Sorry if above doesn't make sense, I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to cars.

Cheers

Sean

If it's a dealer they use vw's own software which is a bit different to vcds.

It's going to go to a garage in a village near me that I use regularly. They have a laptop they plug in which shows fault codes etc and has loads of other options. Is this a VCDS and will they bill able to make changes like the windows going up when you lock the car etc? Sorry, haven't got a clue lol.

Your car may do this anyway.....but you have to hold the lock button on the fob for a second or two before the windows go up. The reverse happens if you hold the unlock button.

You can do all kinds of things with VCDS....off the top of my head:- Steering weight, Auto lock, Auto unlock, 2 rear fog lights (not on face lift models), Switch on/off seat belt warning, Cruise control activation (requires Cruise control indicator stalk), correction of inaccurate trip computer. Many other adjustments/tweeks are possible.
