Pot holes!

Featured Replies

After hitting a rather large pot hole while driving last night. My car has felt not happy with its steering and I feel it's now pulling to the right.

When I hit it it felt like the axle was ripped off..

I'm having the car worked on in two weeks (new wheel bearing and engine mounts) so when that done, I'm after soneone reputable to do my geometry

Uh-oh. Just to point out guys and girls, that if you should see any pot-holes that AREN'T outlined, report them to your council immediately.

If they do not resolve the matter within 24 hours, they are liable for damage.

The downside is, it would be a bit tricky claiming for pot-hole damage that you yourself have reported, unless you can prove there was something coming the other way and it was unavoidable. But if they haven't been reported, then you can't do a thing.

They won't accept claims for tyres though, being a consumable.

You need to check if anything has been bent like the wishbone or the track rod. Don't wait 2 weeks to have someone look

This would be impractical in Devon - you'd have mainly white/yellow roads with a few little grey blotches

If you live in the south west I can recommend South West Wheel Repairs (SWWR) in Marsh Barton for wheel un-buckling services

It's not much better here. You could spend half your life on the phone to them. Interesting that the holes appear in the same places every year though. And yet, the patches are only supposed to be a temporary repair, to be done properly at a later date. Why do we pay road tax again????

Well I had oncoming traffic and passengers in the car. So will have to wander down tomorrow and take a picture of the depth and size etc unless it has an outline. Was only doing about 15 mph

If you are lucky it may just be one of the antiroll bar links. They are made of plastic and a good thump will break them. Very easy for the garage to replace.
