I had another annoying problem

Featured Replies

8 time out of 10 when starting the car at night it would show a bulb out warning, get out check every bulb, all OK, last night NS dip failed, so changed it, on changing it I noticed that the failed one was in wrong, IE half a turn out, so fitted the new one corectly, no more bulb out all night.

Just out of a matter of interest, would any of the red door or interior foot lights show as a bulb out????

Hi,

I had a similar problem with my stop/tail bulbs. The filaments on the factory-fitted bulbs break, and then weld themselves back together again. I would struggle to believe this, but I have seen these bulbs fail when tapped only to work ok a few seconds later. Replacing the bulbs cured the problem (months ago now). They are a single filament capless bulb and not very cheap (£3.80 ish?), and not every motor factors stocks them. Skoda dealers do (obviously), the new ones are Toshiba brand, the originals weren't and only did 25,000 miles before giving these problems. Their single filament is run at low power for the tail light mode and then high power for the stop light.

Watch out for the rear-light screw covers, they prise out, are very fragile, and cost nearly £5 each.

Regards, etc.
