That rough diesel sound

Featured Replies

Morning all,

Ive noticed in the mornings when I fire up the old Skoda, she is a tad rough for a second or two then runs fine. Is this normal under cold and moist conditions??

I know Diesels see the cold as the devil but I thought I should ask the question.

There is no issue starting, it fires up straight away. Its just the first initial start in the morning. Its a 1.9TDi 110Bhp (or cow power :sun: ) 73765 miles, full dealer history with oil changes every 10K or less.

Cheers

PW

I'm happy to have a look with VCDS/VAGCOM for you. PM me if you want to pop over.

It's normal enough; you've probably got a weak glowplug, which leads to it firing up on 3.

Well, mine's been like that for at least 5 years now. I just wait until all 4 cut in before driving, which gives me time to select gear and release the handbrake.

I had a similar sound from my old car, which got worse and worse and worse. £785 later and a new injector and all was silent(ish) diga diga diga diga diga diga diga
