Roof bars for my Monte?

Featured Replies

Looking buy some roof bars for my monte so i can carry the bike around in the summer. Have been looking at the Thule wing bars. I called my Skoda dealership too and they said they could supply some, does anyone know what these are to what quality they are?

Has anyone got any reccomendations?

Cheers

I have a wing bar on my superb and it fits my fabia.

They are very quiet and I would recommend one for anybody doing long journeys or if you are keeping the bars on your car when not using them.

I have a square bar also but found it was very noisy. Whistling noise started at around 40mph and increased with the speed.

The only Downside to a wingbar is you need to buy separate T-rac adapters to fit your accesories to it. The square bar fits anything without the need to buy additional adapters.

I would not buy car specific bars. Although the Skoda bars are good quality and I think are made by thule they are not interchangeable between cars and are redundant when you change.

I've got some of the ones that Lidl were selling recently. Bought them for my Yeti but that's the one Skoda they will not fit!

Think they cost me £27, yours for £20 and we can try to meet up rather than pay the post office?

I got Thule bars for my Superb - square ones I think. I then found they were the same bars to fit the Monte (different feet and adaptors). They will also fit my wife's Golf (again a £40 adaptor).

So I'd go Thule - got mine in Halfords.

I didn't go for the aero bar, as I wanted to keep cost to a minimum. I found it fine with a roof box on (noise wise) and it takes a few minutes to fit them anyway, so remove after each use (rather than sap economy by 5%, or whatever they reckon).

Awesome, thanks for your help.

Has anyone ever had any problems with water coming in the door seals where the bars attach?

Not a drop. Doesn't go near the inner seal I think??
