headlights not working

Featured Replies

after a couple of years of trouble free motering in my felicia pick up the headlights have stoped working, main beam both lights out, high and side ok,pretty sure its the switch as on separate fuses, not checked bulbs yet but would be unlucky if both have gone at the same time......anyone else had problems with switches ?

It's probably the stalk that is not working properly rather than the individual head light and sidelights switches.

hi tom, thanks for your reply.........did`nt think about the stalk switch as high beam is fine ,i have no dipped beam although the warning light on the dash comes on......had a quick look when i got in from work, dark by the time i got out there, and both bulbs are good, checked across the battery,so thought i would bridge the switch and use the side light switch to turn on and off until the weekend when i can see what iam doing and have a bit more time, got in a tissy as could`nt see what i was doing and blew the side light fuse :(

looks like iam on the motorbike tommorow ,bound to be cold and wet :'(

Hi, suspect Tom's nearer the mark but I did have a recent problem affecting the heater fan & headlights. It was triggered through the relevant relay unit located within the main fuse housing & the cause linked back to a poor connection of the wire on to the starter solenoid. This had the effect of knocking out the headlights on normal/dipped beam. Hopefully with a bit more investigation the problem will become evident ;)

had a play with the headlights this evening,i can hear the relay clicking when i press the headlight switch and the warning light on the dash comes on but no dipped beam, have a look at the stalk and all conections are clean and bright, take the headlight switch out and again connections are clean and bright, noticed the push fit socket is a bit loose, wriggled it about but still nothing, check for power either side of the switch, all ok,had some old bulbs in the shed so swap them over noting that again all connections are clean and bright......push the button and behold " let there be light " they work, loose connection somewhere i guess, was thinking of upgrading the bulbs as they do seam a bit dim, parhaps i`ll treat the old girl this weekend......many thanks for your replies another felicia back on the road
