Help with fault codes please

Featured Replies

Hi

Firstly thanks for the replies to my previous post.

I have a Fabia 1.9tdi which I bought slightly damaged. Many years ago I was an autoelectrician and have carried out all types of vehicle work including body and mechanical. But I am way out of date with modern cars.

I repaired the car myself - mostly panels, airbags and dash. When bought the car was fully drivable apart from the PAS disabled due to airbags going off - this was reset by local dealer.

The car has had a few faults. Unfortunately Skoda will not do any repairs under warranty because of the 'slight' damage.

They did check the vehicle and gave me a print out.

I would greatly appreciate if anyone could make comment (or expand) any of the following codes. Particularly - are any of the faults very likley caused by an accident or the repair (Including the fitting of a new dash) or which ones are simply quite common faults. Also any suggestions as to what faults are likley to be a replacable component, which could be a wiring fault and what can I fix myself without paying a Skoda dealer.

Note I can't find the codes starting with '0' at BentleyPublishers.com or anywhere else.

The List

01 Engine Electronics

17764 P1256 Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor G62 Open Circuit / short circuit to B+

16705 P0321 Ignition / Distributor Engine Speed input circuit. Range Performance - sporadic (Note the engine ticks over at 1200rpm)

18057 P1649 Data Bus Drivetrain. Missing message from ABS control module

(Note I read on BentleyPublishers.com forum that this could be a broken connection in a multiplug or that it is quite common to be a faulty ABS module)

03 Brake Electronics

00283 (No P number) Front left speed sensor G47 Open Circuit / Short circuit to B+ (Note I have replaced it - it my clear on a VAG-com reset?)

01200 (No P number) ABS valves voltage supply

44 Steering Assistance

00816 (No P number) Power Steering Sensor G250. Open Circuit / Short circuit to B+ (note I frequently loose PAS at parking speeds)

46 Convenience system central module

01135 (No P number) Interior monitoring sensors. Open circuit - sporadic

08 Air Con / heating

00898 (No P number) Activation AC compressor. Open Circuit / Short circuit to B+

00705 (No P number) First speed engine coolant fan control relay J279 Open Circuit / Short circuit to Ground (Note - this one is my fault - I removed the fan and replaced the control unit with a simple relay - the cooling is fine with one fan - which rarely comes on)

Sorry to be so long - but would appreciate any help

Colin

Hi Colin here again

Any help with any of these faults would be appreciated

Removed.

Can't help specifically and a wiring diagram would certianly help, you may have to wait for the Haynes manual.

However the codes seem evident of some wiring damage, possibly due to the body damage. They all seem to be related to the engine compartment wiring loom.

I would think that you would do well to invest in a full version of VAG-COM, reset the codes and see what comes back.

A post here may get you some more specific advice.
