Thermostat

Featured Replies

Hi guys i need some advice, basically i think the thermostat is stuck in the open position as the temp gauge does not move. Ive replaced the coolant temp sensor so im assuming nxt is the stat. Since the temp gauge has stopped reading the car isnt really boosting properly all the time, some days it boosts fine then others it doesnt, has anybody had similar problems with the stat and boosting? Its really getting on my nerves now

Won't be stat if the gauge doesn't move at all, knackered stat will move the gauge up when stood still. If it's not moving at all it points to an electrical problem. Was the sensor a genuine one as pattern parts fail.

Have you got vcds or torque as they can read what is being sent to the dash and vcds also tells you what the ecu is being sent too

The temp gauge does go up when stood but doesnt get anywer near 90. It goes to around 40 ish. Sometimes it goes up to 90 but hasnt done for a day or 2. What are vcds? Sorry to sound dumb

Thermostat in that case.

Vcds lite is a free program that let's you read fault codes and see data the car is sending.

Full vcds let's you change settings and other stuff but costs over £200. Vcds lite works with cheap cables that are available from eBay
