New member, new driver... slightly old car... :)

Featured Replies

Hi everyone! :)

I'm actually telling a small porky joining up already, but I really couldn't wait. I passed my practical test this morning (woooo!) and up until about three hours ago I was looking into (intently) getting an Audi A2 1.4 TDI. I consulted a friend of mine (he's on VZi and Volksworld) who was heavily considering getting an 03-07 Fabia vRS - so he sent me some links to a few models and the SEAT equivalent. I'm pretty smitten with the Fabia!

I'm so excited - whilst taking FIVE practicals (spread over two years) I saved up enough to buy a decent old car. I've decided to go into work late tomorrow in order to travel up to Watford to check out this Fabia. As I'm a new driver, I'm 24 and I live in London, insurance will be high - about £2,300 (with a telemetrics box). However, in the morning (proper morning I mean), I'm going to call up Adrian Flux et al to see if they can help me out. If they can sort me a better quote than the above, I'll have no problems whatsoever buying that car tomorrow, paying for Freedom, proudly displaying a Briskoda sticker and meeting up with other enthusiasts! :)

I've been driving on that horrible green license for two years now, so it's about time I got my full one! As a VAG enthusiast, I'm looking forward to finally being able to drive a proper German engine. So, erm... HI! :D

Hi and welcome aboard.

Congrats on passing your test.

Looks like a nice clean Vrs ...all the best with the insurance and welcome to Briskoda

Hi Asher and welcome!

Congratulations on passing your tests.

Those Audi A2s are reaching near classic status with some - I think they cost more to produce than Audi sold them for - but the diesel Fabia vRS is truly a modern classic.

Good luck with the insurance - I fear 'vRS' will always be tough to get cheap.

Just a thought but the SEAT Cordoba was produced with the same PD130 engine but in se trim - might be cheaper to insure if you can find one and might not look too ugly in black with nice alloys.

Fingers crossed for you with the insurance!

Andy.
