Paint Peeling on roof

Featured Replies

Just spotted today between windscreen and sunroof, probably instigated by a stone chip: I have now 20mm by 80mm area with lacquer peeled off. Not happy. Has anyone seen this before?

Same here, just noticed yesterday, in same place, about the size of a 50 pence piece, although mine is just the lacquer, can only think bird muck caused it (hard to believe unless it ingested acid!). Did you end up getting a respray?

No, the car is 12 years old, and as much as I'd like to keep it looking tidy, I would say that financial common sense has to prevail.

If I got the roof sorted, I would have to get the front wind sorted that got scraped by an idiot in a parking lot (of course he / she did not leave a note of apology) and my rear panel 100 mm dent cause by an idiot parking a van (again no apology left), and a rear bumper scrape (luggage removal).  So I think I'll carry on cruising like this.

Now, quite annoyingly, once again my boot is getting flooded - noticed it after driving through an appalling rain / storm on the continent last week.  Previously I had a wet boot and changed the seal (not fixed it), checked the rear light seals (all OK), removed the bumper and found that a grommet had gone missing so on the rear panel allowing water to seep into the boot.  A dab of silicone and resolved.

But this latest leak has to be from the seal itself, even though it is new (less than a year old).

Anyway, rant over.  The Superb's never ending troubles with water….

Good job VAG don't make boats...
