vrSSunroof today kindly fitted the Blackvue HD camera to SWMBO's Fabia.

It was suggested that i take some fotos & & do a quick how to fit using this method.

You will need

• 12v socket
  
• Piggy back fuse holder
  
• 15amp fuse
  
• no more than approx 12 inches of car wiring
  
• cable ties
  
• insulating tape.
  
• 2 spade connectors
  
• O or elecrical fork connector ( to earth to body )
  
• Crimping tool
  

I may have forgotten something

Remove the following covers

• Fuse cover ( under steering wheel )
  
• A pillar cover ( dont forget to unclip Tweeter )
  
• Panel between end of dash & door ( see photo 2 )
  

Use a switched live fuse slot & plug in the piggy back fuse holder with the 15amp fuse in it, to run the camera otherwise you will flatten he battery if you havent bought the correct camera cable. As you can see with a bit of trial we found an empty slot that was a switched live. ( pic 1 excuse blurry)

This will connect to the live of your 12 socket, you will need to measure out a piece of your wire & crimp 1 end to the piggy back & crimp a spade connector to the other end to connect to the live of your 12v socket

Another short piece of wire will need the other spade connector at 1 end, with the fork connector at the opposite, this will connect the 12v to earth on body.

Locate your 12v socket into the area you want to locate it & connect the piggyback to live, other spade to 12v socket & forked end to an earth ( see in pic 2 a possible earth)

Test your wiring to ensure you have a switched live & the socket earthed buy connecting your camera & put the key in the ignition & turn on, your camera should now activate, if not check your crimping & connections are secure, or you have a proper earth. Switch off ignition once you have the camera working.

Once you have this working, you can now replace the fuse cover.

Feed your camera wire up the a-pillar & along the roof lining, and make sure you have enough cable hanging behind the rear view mirror to be able to plug & unplug the camera .( Pic 3 & 4).

You can replace the A pillar cover , remember to reconnect the tweeter before securing the cover back into position.

Plug the cameras 12v plug into your installed socket & secure the plug/socket along with the excess cable in your chosen area & relocate the remaining cover.

Now you can locate your camera onto the windscreen & plug in, finally stick onto the screen the cable clips supplied by blackvue to stop the cable flapping around.

You should now be ready to go.

I think that is how my RoadHawk has been done,( i had an electrician do it ) this looks like a cleaner way to be able to transfer when needed, with no hacking into the cars own wiring.

I have a 2013 Monte so I'm guessing the fuse box will be the same, can you tell me what number fuse you used for the switched live.
