Visual inspection - a timely reminder

Featured Replies

Hello everyone

From a point of hypocrisy, I'm the world's worst and probably look at my tyres about once a month at best.

So this morning came a bit of a surprise when I found this in my OSR:

And an albeit blurry scale photo:

It's part of a Stanley knife blade. The shiny right had side was on show and in contact with the road surface. The left side was going square into the tyre :S :peek:

I've yanked it out (obviously!) - thought 'in for a penny...' and the tyre's holding pressure. But I think I'll replace it for peace of mind. It's got about 3mm left, so it's no real loss to replace it a tad early.

So a timely reminder folks that it's worth looking at your tyres regularly.

Well it's a good job that you did check but lucky that it was getting close to needing changing- I've just had to replace a new tyre (6 days old) as I got a nail in it! £196 later.....
