p0171 fault code 1.8t 4x4

Featured Replies

Hi all, so car with has just sailed through its mot but on way back through up the eml with this code. Ross tech site suggest maf fault, but I just wanted to check if maf could cause slightly lumpy idle?

Car normally idles around 800 rpm but og late has been sitting at 950 and bouncing around a bit.

I assume best thing to do is unplug maf and see if she still runs the same then take it from there.

Yep if it runs better with the MAF unplugged the MAF is goosed

Genuine VAG MAF only do not buy aftermarket.

Mine threw up that code last week. System too lean. You could have an air leak somewhere in the intake. It could be the maf if you've never replaced it, but try checking all the vacuum pipes first especially the y pipe and the s shaped one that connects to. My s pipe had a big hole in it a few months back and it was a little lumpy at idle.
