Loss of drivers side electric mirror and centarl locking function?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just had all the drivers door apart on my 2004 VRS and cleaned all the pins and connectors on the electric window motor as per the guide on here, but I still hav'nt got the drivers mirror working or the central locking working on the drivers door either. One of the pins is quite corroded and moving about a fair bit, but does'nt seem broken. What else can I do ?, I've looked on ebay for a replacement motor but none on there at the moment.

It's driving me mad now!

HELP :-(

I had a similar recurring problem. I found that one of the 15 amp fuses (The one that safeguards all these circuits) intermittently kept blowing, Think it was fuse 23 but the owners manual clearly indicates which one, even if as in my manual it is a mirror image because it was originally a continental design. (Something that Mr SKODA forgot to change when translating the manual!)

Sometimes after replacing the fuse it was OK for quite a while, then sometimes it was more frequent. I did seek a short circuit but couldn't find one so gave up as it didn't occur too frequently.

Later it became such a frequent occurrence that I had to look for a real fault.

By removing the panels from the doors one at a time, and then slamming the doors with the electric plug connector for that door disconnected I did find that the connectors/wiring for the lock/window mechanism on the rear nearside door was shorting to earth and blowing the fuse. I was lucky, a bit of insulating tape around a slightly frayed wire has solved it and it's been OK for the last 3 years.

Try the other end of the wiring. It is behind the trim where the bonnet release is. Water travels down the wiring and into the connector from the door.
